fuckyeahchubbygirls!: Formspring question..

I really appreciate your FY! Chubby Girls Tumblr, but I do have a problem with the fact that a lot of the girls you feature aren’t actually what most people would consider “chubby”. Curvy, maybe! What made you choose that adjective specifically?

I didn’t choose it, Amy did. If a girl submits and…

  1. katieklassified answered: The only problem I ever have is when the site features girls who aren’t chubby/curvy/fat at ALL. Chubby girls aren’t size 2.
  2. puffy-lipped-gay-bar-pinup answered: so now somebody wants to categorize the certain degrees of fat too? wow. no matter what we’re called, we aren’t loving our bodies, that’s it.
  3. retromodernelle answered: I wouldn’t consider some of these girls chubby, either, but we all have the right to self-identify and I love seeing bodies that look like me
  4. paterfamilias answered: I didn’t know there were standard definitions for chubby and curvy. Really, does it matter? There’s enough love to go around for all of them.

  6. kissmewinchester answered: It’s annoying seeing girls pop up here that aren’t chubby in the least. But if they think they are…
  7. wherethejackaloperoam answered: Sometimes I see the girls on here tho, and i’m like, “if they are chubby, oh god, what does that make me?” Not the right reaction, I know.

there is an interesting conversation going on here, to which i contributed the rather cranky response: “your stance is...
  9. fatandsassy answered: your stance is depoliticizing. thanks for appropriating and sanitizing “chubby” to NOT address the power dynamcis of body hierarchies
  10. abelhina answered: I think you’re doing a great job. There’s thin chubby, and fat chubby, and somewhere in the middle chubby and this site encompasses it all.
  11. mermaidcanadienne answered: fuck yes
  12. doctorfurious answered: This is why I love this blog.
  13. johnnybee answered: I completely agree, chubby is a continuum like many things and to tell someone they are not chubby enough is just another kind of snobbery.
  14. shakethecobwebs answered: I think you’re doing a wonderful job.
  15. hot-tramp answered: I definitely see pictures of girls who I wouldn’t call “chubby,” but obviously they self-identify as “chubby.” Seeing that range is useful.
  16. winged answered: I totally agree :)
  17. iamthepassenger answered: I just like looking at pictures of girls like me, who aren’t always see in magazines. *shrugs* Curves, chub, rolls, LOVE IT ALL. :)
  18. ya-blew-it answered: This blog made me realize that I am beautiful no matter how big or small, chubby or skinny I am! It’s all about self image and body love!
  19. loveandzombies answered: SIZE ACCEPTANCE! always.
  20. bastien-fils answered: Sizes & shapes of people don’t matter, the skinny are just as able to see fault in themselves as the chubby. Enter FYCG, where ALL is beauty
  21. whisperingtheword answered: The thought behind this is nice but I can’t say I agree. There are way more girls on this blog who aren’t very big than truly big ladies.
  22. bustal answered: If there is something about yourself that you don’t like, but you can turn it around and be proud of who you are? That is beautiful to me.
  23. evielayne answered: agree.. but i wish every picture wasn’t so sexual. women’s bodies don’t need to objectified to be beautiful.
  24. lovepills answered: i don’t know where to send my pics. i am fat, but i needed to lose some weight, i’m chubby forever at heart and NEVER thin. does it answer?!
  25. heatherface answered: Not all these girls are what I’d personally call chubby, but who am I to judge how someone sees themself? They’re all gorgeous just the same.
  26. asthedaysgobylifehappenss answered: iamsofucking said it best. “One persons chubby is another persons curvy is another persons fat.” Stop trying to put so many labels on weight.
  27. glitterfitta answered: i think it’s perfect the way it is - so many of us are not ‘normal’ in this society + we all need our bodies to be celebrated (so thanks!)
  28. babsblogs answered: Some wouldnt call me chubby, but others have;my emotionally abusive exboyfriend did everyday for two years. FYCG has helped my self-image sfm
  29. justahappykid answered: how many more times are ppl going to say this? if you don’t like how the blog is run, don’t follow it.
  30. easternblocparty answered: i think its complicated & have conflicting feelings! like chubby IS beautiful, nonchubbies already overrrep’ed in mainstream, ran outta room.
  31. frozenvoices answered: i really think this blog should be called “fuckyeahcurves” because “chubby” is not what these girls are they are much too beautiful for that
  32. thelure answered: I agree that there shouldn’t be a cut-off, but I’d like to see you make sure there’s a balance and that most pics aren’t of smaller girls.
  33. iamsofucking answered: True dat lil’ mama. It’s all about SIZE ACCEPTANCE, ANY size. One persons chubby is another persons curvy is another persons fat.
  34. sadierex answered: When I was a size 18 I was told I was too skinny for big girls but too big for small girls, it really killed my self-esteem. Nobody wanted me
  35. premierboner answered: i kind of wish there were another tumblr that was about general size acceptance. i can see non-chubby girls being celebrated anywhere :/
  36. slytherynn answered: I think it’s fine that they’re not all “chubby” but “curvy.” They’re all beautiful
