It was hard for me to go from super skinny to actually having a body, and looking like a woman, and sometimes I wish I was still that skinny. Like skinny enough that you could see my ribs and hipbones… and that’s why I have somewhat of a fascination with them, because mine don’t stand out. I know you love my body, and I’m glad. It’s helping me to love it more as well.

fuck the trees: Fat Issues →
Today was a difficult day.
In my Women, Food and Culture course we watched a documentary on the dance troupe Big Dance and basically the movie threw me into an anxiety attack. I knew at the start of the course that we would eventually be discussing weight- and fat-related issues and that it…
Really looking forward to starting my photography...

Think Brilliantly: Body Image; Self Love →
I’m watching Tyler Perry’s film “Why Did I Get Married” for the first time. The guy who plays Jill Scott’s husband is a complete a—hole. He told her that if she loses 50 pounds, then MAYBE he will be attracted to her again. WTF? I’m just saying now, when I get married and my husband says some shxt…
Poetic InQueery: Hypo(crite) →
I loved her body.
Now, I am a hypocrite.
I laid down oaths that she was perfect, just the way she was, and now I persecute that same “excess” flesh on myself. Did the universe not make my body, too?
Who are you to judge me? asks my body. Who the FUCK are YOU?
I would tell it I’m sorry, but I…

So, it’s time to fight the good fight against clueless bullies. If you can’t be at home in your own body, where exactly are you supposed to go? Sure, eat right and exercise. That’s what both of us do. It’s good for us, and it feels good. But guess what - one of us is still thin and the other is still fat.
And that’s only natural. The idea that Kevin Smith would be...

There’s a better way of saying it than calling yourself “fat”. If anything, say you “weigh more than you want to” or “wish you were skinnier”. It’s not that hard. And honestly, when most stick-thin girls call themselves fat in front of other people, we know they’re looking…

Why yes, I am whoring myself out.
Being fat - overweight or obese - is not a bad thing. Many of us were born this way, just as you were born short or with blonde hair. Are we to change our DNA? Are we expected to curse our genes, our parents, or grandparents? I am fat. I do not ask for your hatred. I do not ask for your rude remarks. I do not ask for your judgment. I do not...

Most of the time I’ve found that advice columnists, when confronted with questions related to or about fat bodies, get it so gosh darn wrong. Usually, when they are “less offensively” wrong, it is because they are just repeating what they believe to be TRUEFACTS about OMGOBESITY. Sometimes, when they are Dan Savage, they just seem to hate fat people.
But I digress. ...

Point people to this next time someone starts going on about the obesity “epidemic.”
I have seriously seen this way too much in the past few days. I am tall. It is not an epidemic. Obesity, however, is something that in many (and I am by no means saying all) cases CAN be managed. Having a little extra to love is fine…I am tall...

I really appreciate your FY! Chubby Girls Tumblr, but I do have a problem with the fact that a lot of the girls you feature aren’t actually what most people would consider “chubby”. Curvy, maybe! What made you choose that adjective specifically?
